Riata Defibrillator

Riata Defibrillator Leads are manufactured by St. Jude Medical. The wires in these leads have experienced the fracture problems to those in the Medtronic leads which were recalled after Medtronic identified at least five patient deaths. Patients should contact their physician if there is any uncertainty about being implanted with either a Riata Defibrillator Lead or a Sprint Fidelis Defibrillator. Patients who have a Riata implanted should contact their physician, especially if they have experienced multiple shocks, lightheadedness, fainting, or palpitations.
