William P. Kelly co-founded the Firm in 1996 after working for a large firm specializing in the defense of insurance companies. Bill has recovered millions for New Yorkers who have been tragically injured through the fault of others. A proven master at handling all phases of complex litigation, one of his greatest strengths is pre-trial preparation. As a result of his meticulous preparation and organization of every case, Bill is able to obtain maximum recoveries on behalf of our clients. Bill's recent successes include a $1.5 million settlement at trial against the City of New York for a woman in Queens who was injured in a car accident caused by a missing stop sign. He also recovered $1 million settlement at trial in a case against the City of New York on behalf of a woman in Brooklyn who was struck by an NYPD police car. Bill recently achieved a stunning victory in federal court wherein he recovered $975,000 at trial on behalf of a pedestrian injured by a drunk driver on New Year's Day 2005. Bill brought suit against the driver and a well known New York City bar. Bill was able to establish through the testimony of NYPD officers that the bar violated New York's Dram Shop Act when the driver was served alcohol after showing visual signs of intoxication. Bill was born and raised in Rockaway Beach in Queens, a breeding ground for New York firefighters. Bill has been called upon to represent ever increasing numbers of firefighters who suffer personal injuries both on and off the job. As a result, the Firm established a telephone number for injured firefighters: (212) BRAVEST. Bill is active in matters relating to The Bravest Fund charity established by our clients, the three FDNY firefighters who gained worldwide fame for raising the American flag at Ground Zero. Bill's expertise also extends to intellectual property, licensing and commercial litigation. Currently, Bill represents a group of investors in a fight over the profits from the Oscar-nominated film Super Size Me. Bill is a graduate of Brooklyn Law School, the College of the Holy Cross, a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association and is admitted to practice law in New York and Connecticut.

"It's gratifying to be in a position to help injured people because they are at such a disadvantage in the legal system. The litigation process is a complicated and unknown world to most people and it's very important that they feel confident and secure with their attorney." William P. Kelly

"In my professional life there is no greater joy than to obtain justice for an innocent victim who has been rendered disabled and unable to provide for his or her family because of the neglect or indifference of another. Our clients come from all walks of life, but they share one thing in common. They need the expertise of a highly skilled attorney and the guidance of someone who cares about them. At McCarthy & Kelly LLP, we take great pride in the fact that we are able to give our clients what they need at a very difficult time in their lives." Gerald T. McCarthy
